Penny Lane isn’t just any pup—she’s the heart and soul of Vetr. Born on Valentine’s Day, Penny is the beloved daughter of Vetr co-founders Rachel Berkal and Sadoc Paredes. Her story is more than just adorable; it’s the very inspiration behind Vetr’s mission to make veterinary care more accessible, stress-free, and convenient for pets and their families.
From Pandemic Puppy to Business Inspiration
When Rachel and Sadoc adopted Penny during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, they quickly realized just how difficult accessing veterinary care could be. Appointments were booked out for weeks, costs were high, and Penny found the entire experience stressful and overwhelming.
Luckily, Sadoc was already deeply involved in veterinary medicine, owning a veterinary diagnostic lab. Together, he and Rachel saw an opportunity to revolutionize pet care by bringing veterinary services directly to where pets feel safest—at home.
Life as the Chief Barketing Officer
Now, Penny Lane comes to the office every day, fulfilling her very important role as Chief Barketing Officer. She keeps morale high with her snuggles, sass, and an impeccable ability to brighten any room. But her work doesn’t stop there—Penny is also a frequent traveler, accompanying Rachel and Sadoc on business trips, ensuring the Vetr mission reaches more pet parents.
She even joins Rachel on stage for pitch competitions and speaking engagements, charming audiences and serving as the perfect ambassador for stress-free veterinary care. Whether she’s in the office, on the road, or center stage, Penny embodies the love, energy, and purpose behind Vetr.
She’s also quite the intellectual—she loves puzzles, learning new tricks, and playing hide and seek both at home and in the office. Whether she’s curled up in a cozy spot or making the rounds to greet the team, Penny is always spreading joy.
Penny's Favorite Things
Penny Lane has a big personality and an even bigger list of favorite things! She absolutely loves pup cups, popcorn, and peanut butter—she’ll never turn down a tasty treat. She’s also obsessed with the mailman, who gives her a treat every time she sees him. In fact, she’ll stop anytime she sees a mail person, fully expecting a snack!
Penny is an adventurous pup who loves hiking the trails of Michigan and, most of all, the beach. The Lake Michigan coastline is her favorite place to be—playing in the waves, running along the shoreline, and keeping a close eye on Mom and Dad. She’s playful, cuddly, and kind to everyone she meets, both humans and dogs alike.
